
Facilities & Safety Manager

As the Facilities and Safety Manager at Isto Biologics, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and maintenance of our facilities. You will oversee building and equipment maintenance, custodial functions, and emergency preparedness procedures. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety measures to protect employees and comply with relevant regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee building and equipment maintenance to ensure proper functionality.
- Operate and maintain custodial functions to keep the facility clean and well-maintained.
- Recommend maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications as needed.
- Safety Management:
- Develop and communicate workplace safety precautions to employees.
- Support the development of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and programs.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics such as noise levels and machinery usage.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
- Review existing safety policies and measures, updating them in accordance with legislation.
- Initiate and organize OHS training for employees and executives as needed.
- Conduct quarterly safety meetings with stakeholders to ensure continued compliance.
- Vendor and Contractor Oversight:
- Oversee, supervise, and ensure the quality of work for vendors and contractors.
- Ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
- Work with Engineering and Finance to manage and review service contracts.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform in-house equipment maintenance, including both preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Calibrate equipment as needed/required.
- Maintain equipment files to ensure all are updated as needed.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Ensure security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
- Take appropriate action in the event of an emergency to safeguard personnel and property.
- Incident Investigation:
- Help HR record and investigate worker's compensation claims.
- Identify and address any unsafe acts or processes that could be dangerous or unhealthy.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in facilities management and safety compliance.
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance, safety regulations, and emergency preparedness.
